MAPOLY online lectures Suspended Indefinitely

The online lectures for students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic has been put on hold, Bootinfos Team has gathered.

This is coming after a release by the Association of Staff Union of Polytechnic(ASUP) Mapoly Chapter accused the polytechnic management of not providing it’s members with neccessary facilities to prevent COVID-19 on campus.

ASUP in the purported release said the management failed to fulfil the promise made to them and thereby directed it’s members to stop the online class for students with immediate effect.

“The Union had taken a look at the Federal and Ogun State Governments’ positions in tandem with that of MAPOLY on the resumption of educational institutions at all levels.

“Nevertheless, the union decided to check on the campus on Monday, 11th of May 2020 only to find out that the management is yet to effect its promises to provide specific and required measures in line with the best practices on COVID-19 health protocol and found it regrettable that little or nothing had been done.

“We particularly had expected that prior to the announced date of resumption, the offices and premises on campus would have been fumigated and at least an automated/semi-automated hand-washing machine would have been stationed at the main gate including the Schools and Departmental offices.

” But to our surprise, there was nothing as such, except for a 5litre plastic bucket with little or no water that attest for the feeble measure taken by the management.

It is our candid opinion that the coronavirus is pandemic, and should be approached with serious resolve.

“Considering all the above, the Union hereby: Direct all Members to stop immediately, further participation on e-learning until clear cut modalities are agreed with by the Union, this is because some of our members are already been victimized by the management and some HOD are also harassing members.

” It should be noted that any member who continues with the e-learning program from today will be doing so at his or her own risk.

” Members are directed to stay out of the institution premises until Management has done the needful ( decontamination/ fumigation, provision of adequate water and soap for handwashing at strategic locations in the school, weeding of overgrown bushes).

“We shall continue to monitor this and revert back to the house.”

Thee statement reads:
However, when contacted by Bootinfos Team Ma poly branch on phone, MAPOLY ASUP Chairman, Mr. Babatunde Osifalujo disowned the viral statement saying he didn’t issue any press release.

Osifalujo also refused to comment on the suspension of the e-learning.
He simply said ” I didn’t write any press release, no comment on the suspension of e-learning for now”.

Meanwhile, checks by bootinfos revealed that most of the department in the institution had suspended the online lectures days after the release was issued.

Departments such as marketing, Hospitality Management, Pharmaceutical Technology, Architecture, Estate management , Mass Communication, Statistics amongst others have their online lectures on hold.

Bootinfos learnt that the Polytechnic management is on top of the situation.

RECALLED 3 week ago bootinfos reported that Mapoly has commence Virtual(Online) Lectures as directed by the federal government
